SOCO Construction rejuvenated the Essex Green Shopping Center in West Orange, New Jersey, repositioning it as a vibrant destination for casual dining and community gathering. The project revitalized 300,000 sf of space inclusive of multiple tenants across two floors of mall space. Scope of work consisted of facade renovations, interior demolition and re-demise spaces, utility infrastructure rebuild, and structural improvements to the existing floor structure.
This work was in support of bringing in new tenants for a 27,000 sf Burlington build-out, free-standing Starbucks providing an enhanced cafe experience, and landlord improvements for dining facilities such as 5 Guys, Primo Hoagies, and more.
The site development plan prioritized walkability and guest comfort. As a result there is new storm drainage, paving, and walkways. The existing walkways, curbs, and sidewalks were also revitalized along with upgrades on existing electrical infrastructure. This created an enhanced outdoor space that fits with the newly renovated center.
