SOCO Construction managed the ground-up build of The Alice, which encompasses the development of Terhune Road in Princeton, New Jersey. The building’s structure consists of a concrete foundation and first-floor slab, along with timber framing from floors 1-4 and the roof.
The 164,082 sf development is a 4-story residential building with 125 apartments, exterior Park/Public Betterments, a rooftop terrace, surface-level parking, and various common gathering spaces. Park/Public Betterments include: a 6-acre neighborhood, playground with seating and a dog park, pergola, sitting areas, walking and cycling paths, native plantings and ornate landscaping, porous paving, and storm detention. The parking garage features 163 parking spaces, including 15 on-site electric vehicle charging spaces.
This project has various environmental sustainability aspects, such as the Zero Energy Ready Homes certification program from the Department of Energy and EnergyStar Multifamily New Construction certification program. It also incorporates high-efficiency air source heat pumps and a building structure created to meet Passive House standards.
