ABB selected SOCO Construction as construction manager for the new GIS (Gas Insulated Switchgear) building that was constructed inside an operational PSEG 230KV sub-station.

The building is a structural steel frame with a prefabricated thin brick panel facade. The foundation for the building is 12’ above grade in order to prevent flood damage. The building also contains a 5-ton 60’ bridge crane within the structure that was used to install and service the GIS equipment.
